Woman Holds Dʏɪɴɢ Sʜᴇʟᴛᴇʀ Dog In Her Arms All Night So He Won’t Pᴀss Aᴡᴀʏ ᴀʟᴏɴᴇ

We would like to be able to sᴀᴠᴇ every dog but realistically, it just isn’t possible. Janine Guido had to ᴅᴇᴀʟ ᴡɪᴛʜ this issue when she met a dog named Watson. You see, she is the founder of Speranza Animal Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ so she takes care of many animals.

Watson was a ʜᴏᴍᴇʟᴇss pit bull who was found in a park all ᴀʟᴏɴᴇ in Pʜɪʟᴀᴅᴇʟᴘʜɪᴀ by a college student. After finding the dog, the student took him to an emergency ᴠᴇᴛ because the pup had sᴏʀᴇs all over his body, ᴀ ᴛᴜᴍᴏr on his back leg and he was starving. The ᴠᴇᴛ informed the student that Watson was beyond hope. He had ᴄᴀɴᴄᴇʀ that was sᴘʀᴇᴀᴅɪɴɢ and his time was ʟɪᴍɪᴛᴇᴅ.

Watson was transferred from ᴛʜᴇ ᴠᴇᴛᴇʀɪɴᴀʀɪᴀɴ’s office to a local Sʜᴇʟᴛᴇʀ. Sʜᴇʟᴛᴇʀ staff agreed to make Watson as comfortable as possible.

I had a gut feeling that things weren’t going to be good the next day,” Guido told the Dodo. “I didn’t want to leave him ᴀʟᴏɴᴇ. Not when he needed me the most.”

Guido pledged to stay by Watson’s side. She gathered blankets and dog beds then lied down with him, as close as possible. She spent the night, holding him as he slept in her arms.

“He slept like a rock all night, cuddled up to me so tight,” Guido said. “I cried myself to sleep, and woke up in tears as well.”

Watson began pacing circles the following morning and he sᴛᴏᴘᴘᴇᴅ eating and drinking. Guido knew that he was close to dying. She continued to support him in that difficult time.

That next morning, Watson sᴛᴏᴘᴘᴇᴅ eating and drinking. He paced in circles and Guido knew his time was ᴄᴏᴍɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ᴀɴ ᴇɴᴅ.

She continued to give him as much love as possible so he knew he wasn’t ᴀʟᴏɴᴇ.

Watson ᴘᴀssᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ shortly after, knowing he was loved– probably for the first time in his life.

“I’m just so thankful I was able to hold him tight for his last night,” Guido said. “I was telling him how much he was loved — and that his life mattered. My heart is ʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ, but I would not change a thing.”

Not long afterward, Watson ᴘᴀssᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ – And at least he went knowing that he was loved.

“I’m just so thankful I was able to hold him tight for his last night,” Guido said. “I was telling him how much he was loved — and that his life mattered. My heart is ʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ, but I would not change a thing.”

Rᴇsᴛ in peace little Watson. And let this story serve as a reminder to the Rᴇsᴛ of us to always do what we can to help the animals out there who don’t have a loving home.
