Tigger the cat is now 21 years old. But just a few months ago, he was abandoned at a local vet office until a kind young woman came to offer him a forever loving home. Now she is on a mission to help him live out his best life.
Adriene Buisch (Nicole), a marketing coordinator at Charm City Veterinary Hospital, was looking for a companion for her 6-year-old cat. She stumbled upon Tigger’s story in a post shared on the Canton Neighbors Facebook page and decided she would take him home that night.
He was underweight and his fur matted. After taking him to the vet, she learned some ᴅᴇᴠᴀsᴛᴀᴛɪɴɢ news. Sᴀᴅʟʏ, Nicole soon discovered that Tigger had kidney ꜰᴀɪʟᴜʀᴇ and a golf ball-sized ᴛᴜᴍᴏʀ. Tigger refused to let anything slow him down as he lives his life like a 12 year old cat. The couple are determined to give Tigger the best life so he could enjoy all his favorite things.
“Though he has kidney ꜰᴀɪʟᴜʀᴇ and we found a ᴛᴜᴍᴏʀ, he kicks it like a 12 yr old. We decided to create a bucket list full of random adventures [for Tigger],” she wrote on Facebook.
She regularly takes Tiger outdoors, especially the beach, which is his favorite by far. They walked together on the sand all afternoon. This is probably Tiger’s most peaceful and happy moment.
A year later, on November 19th, Tigger turned 22! They celebrated his birthday with a chicken cake topped with patte. “Tiggs and Stuart chowed down together and got a little meat drunk,” Adriene said.
Tigger has received a lot of wonderful gifts from his human admirers through his Facebook page. A fan from Australia sent him a cuddly platypus, and Tigger cuddles it to sleep like his own baby. But above all, Tigger’s favorite cuddle buddy has to be his human mom.
“He likes to hold on to mommy during tv time…. all the time.”
