This Pᴏᴏʀ Bʟɪɴᴅ Dog Was Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ After A Week Alone In The Woods
For genuine pet lovers, pets are not just mere animals. They are treated as equals, possessing the right to love, care and attention just as much as humans. They share history with the whole family, as well as sharing ᴜɴɪǫᴜᴇ little secrets with each individual.
The same was the case for the Cole Family. They have a 12-ʏᴇᴀʀ ᴏʟᴅ ʙʟɪɴᴅ Labrador, Sage, who is nothing but a gentle soul. Imagine their distraught when they realized that Sage was nowhere to be found after they accidentally left her out in their yard. A search immediately commenced with the help of their neighborhood. They posted up flyers, and wrote on social media sites.
“Our neighbors and other members of the community helped us search day and night for a week,” Sage’s owner Beth Cole told The Mercury News. “We looked everywhere.”
When he found the labrador, she was lying in a shallow stream, and he initially thought that poor dog hadn’t made it. It was only when the man got closer and Sage lifted her head that he knew that she was alive. He told KTVU of his relief:
I started hugging her, it was overwhelming – so moving […] I put my arms around her and kissed her and started to pet her. And she was able to hold her head up and wag her tail.
“It really was a ᴍɪʀᴀᴄʟᴇ,” Estrada told TODAY.
Since Sage was weak from the lack of food and water, Don carried her on his shoulders all the way to the top.
Don immediately contacted the Cole family, telling them he was bringing their beloved dog home.
They slowly made their way up.

Estrada ran to Sage and kissed her. He knew the dog well; her owners lived nearby and Sage often played with his two dogs.
Sage was finally home with her family again. She was fed, bathed and taken care of, and her family made sure that she didn’t get out of their sight again.
The Cole family had been offering a $1,000 reward to the person who’d have saved Sage, but Don Estrada turned it down, telling them to donate the money to an animal rescue organization instead.
“Our family is so grateful to have Sage home!” Cole said. “Our small town has really pulled together around this happy ending made possible by our neighbor Dan.”
