Dogs really are the perfect pets: they’re such loyal companions, always there to lift our spirits with their unconditional love. Dogs have been known to improve people’s wellbeing and ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟ health. And people of all walks of life rely on their dogs for comfort — even major Hollywood actors.
Recently, British actor Henry Cavill, known for his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe and as Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher, revealed in an interview that his dog, Kal, has been instruᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟ in his wellbeing. Season 2 of The Witcher is set to premiere on December 17.
While Cavill has been praised for his amazing work, he has also become extremely beloved by fans due to his down-to-earth and charming personality, as well as many of his co-workers over the years. On top of that, he has also made sure to show his gratitude to those that have helped him along the way, including his pet dog. He opened up about how much his trusty companion really means to him and how Kal is always by his side. Most importantly, Kal even sᴀᴠᴇᴅ Cavill from his ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟ health Sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟᴇs.
Henry Cavill was seen arriving for a flight at Los Angeles’ LAX airport last week with his dog, which was wearing a vest with the words ‘Working. Do not pet. Emotional Support Dog’ emblazoned on it. Under a unique US Department of Transportation rule, passengers are allowed to take their dogs on flights if they have a doctor’s letter stating the animal ‘is necessary to their ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟ health or ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ’. Despite his superhero role, it seems the 31-year-old British actor needs an ‘emotional support’ to board a plane.
Cavill saidthat he takes his American Akita, Kal, everywhere he goes. Kal has been his best friend. Cavill’s social media account bears testimony to his affection for Kal, whose pictures often make his Instagram posts. In a post from last year he described Kal as “part dog, part bear, part pig and all sᴏᴜʟ,” and called him an “absolute gem.”
“I’ve had him since he was 10 weeks old and we have been through thick and thin together,” Cavill wrote. “We actually spend so much time together, I’m not sure who imitates who anymore!”
It’s clear that the British actor and his adorable dog have a very wonderful bond with each other and are always looking out for each other. It looks like a dog really is man’s best friend!
