A sweet dog, later named Bella, spent her life in a city shelter. Dog shelters in Romania do not resemble the ones in the states. The dogs are often kept outside and the conditions are less than ideal. Due to poverty in Romania, the shelters do not get enough food from donors, charities so the dogs do not eat as much as they should.
Bella was underweight and shy. She has never been held, caressed and loved. Living in the shelter, she lacked many things that caused her mental breakdown. Fortunately, Howl Of A Dog, a Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ group in Romania, helped Bella get a better life. It is to find her a permanent home.
The Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇrs took sweet Bella straight to the vet for a medical checkup. As she sits beside her new human friend in the car, her expression is that of pure peace. She understands, as she’s being shown affection, that her life is about to change.
Bella was utterly exhausted. Shelter workers told the Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇrs that Bella hardly slept. She had a hard time feeling safe in her kennel. However, as she sat there, was pampered and petted, she slowly closed her eyes. It’s hard to believe she’s finally relaxing herself like that.
Then Bella does something so heartwarming. She places her head on her Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇr’s lap. When they got to the vet’s office, she was able to get a good night’s sleep. The car is calm and quiet and the woman beside her is kind and gentle. This is what Bella needed. Feeling safe is everything to a dog.
Bella’s sweet moment as she fell asleep was recorded by lifeguards. Howl Of A Dog wrote: “She was so trusting and relieved to be finally sᴀᴠᴇᴅ … she didn’t care about anything else, only wanted to take a nap in someone’s arms.”
Bella is a bit underweight and, after having the ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ tests and medical investigations done she was also prescribed supplements to help her spleen and liver. She’s also had a medicated bath to get rid of fleas and ease the itching. And it didn’t take long until she found her perfect adoptive family.
Now Bella lives in Germany, in a very beautiful and quiet village, she goes for lots of walks in the forest, which she totally loves (she has seen deer, foxes, squirrels and a badger, and was very excited by it all). And in the house, she follows her mom around wherever she goes.
Bella’s adoptive mom wrote Howl Of A Dog: “I think she feels very comfortable and happy here. She is very affectionate towards me and we cuddle a lot, but she is also a bit of a clown – she makes me laugh every day!”
