Senior Dog Hᴀɴɢs His Head And Wᴇᴇᴘs Because He Doesn’t Know Why They Dᴜᴍᴘᴇᴅ Him

A 14-year-old dog named Ox had spent all his life being a faithful companion to his owner. He loved his human unconditionally, but he didn’t expect that one day, his owner would leave him.

When the owner’s new significant other claimed to be “allergic” to Ox, the owner didn’t hesitate to surrender this ᴡᴇᴀᴋ senior baby to the neaʀᴇsᴛ shelter.

The staff at the Humane Society of Hamilton County in Indiana were ᴄʀᴜsʜᴇᴅ to see Ox’s ᴅɪsᴛᴜʀʙɪɴɢ behavior in his kennel just after his owner left. Ox hung his head from his kennel bed and began sobbing like a ᴅᴇꜰᴇᴀᴛᴇᴅ child. His ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ was irreparably ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ, and his caretakers knew senior dogs like him, unable to bear the ᴘᴀɪɴ of being left behind by a loved one, easily ʟᴏsᴇ the will to live or get put down.

Sympathizing with the dog’s plight, the shelter immediately shared a ᴛʀᴀɢɪᴄ photo of Ox’s kennel on social media, leaving everyone’s hearts in pity. Within 2 hours of posting, a woman who happened to see him, contacted the shelter and offered to adopt Ox. She drove there to meet him. While Ox was still upset by the day’s events, his spirit was better when he met another loving human being. Ox feels warmer than ever.

Gradually, Ox opened his ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ to his new family and began smiling again in his new home. He was often haunted by the memories of his previous owner, but was also happy that his new mom and human siblings loved him sincerely, kept him comfortable and never treated him badly.

Ox knew he was a cherished member in his new home, but his ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ was never able to recover from his previous abandonment and betrayal. Six months after his adoption, poor Ox ᴡᴀs ɢᴏɴᴇ in the arms of the woman who brightened up his final days. We hope he’s in a better place now, Ox. You did a good job, ʀᴇsᴛ in ᴘᴇᴀᴄᴇ.
