Sᴛʀᴀʏ Puppy Runs After Car Demanding To Be Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ

There is no better feeling than knowing you were at the right place at the right time in order to provide help for someone. Helping others who cannot pay you back is one of the best things that you can do. Of course, it’s not just people who can benefit from selfless kindness. Animals, too, can use help.

Valia Orfanidou, who works for the Orphan Pet, was driving down a country road in rural Greece when a small black and white puppy jumped out of the bushes and started running behind her car. Watching him in the rearview mirror, Orfanidou could tell the little dog was intent on following her.

Valia Orfanidou, from Greece, is passionate about helping Sᴛʀᴀʏ animals. She rescuers and fosters Sᴛʀᴀʏ dogs, who are sᴀᴅʟʏ common in her home country.

“My thoughts were, ‘Oh no, another one,’” Valia told The Dodo. “Greece has about 3 to 5 million Sᴛʀᴀʏ dogs. The streets here are like an open-admission shelter — anyone who doesn’t want their dog anymore dumps him on the streets, there is no other option.”

Valia pulled over, and the pup then hid under her vehicle, as if to stop her from driving off again. She was impressed with the little dog’s determination.

“Pretty clever move, actually,” she said in a YouTube video. “He basically Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ himself, this one.”

She knew it wouldn’t be easy to capture the pup, but eventually, she was able to nab him and bring him into the safety of her car. As soon as he was in the backseat of her car it seemed like the little pup felt he could finally relax. He even began wagging his tail!

She brought him to a veterinarian. Despite ꜰᴇɴᴅɪɴɢ for himself on the streets for so long, the pup was in good health and spirits. The dog was named Bandit.

“He is independent and strong-minded,” Valia told The Dodo. “But very loyal and lives to learn.”

Now in a loving foster home in Athens, the puppy, now named Bandit, is growing quickly with the proper care. Bandit is eagerly learning about his new world — about soft beds, full food bowls, kind humans and long walks.

And soon, with the help of Second Chance Animal Rescue Society, he will find a forever family who will give him the love and attention he so deserves.
