Monty has spent seven years in ᴋᴇɴɴᴇʟs and still no one wants to ᴀᴅᴏᴘᴛ him

At a ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ center in Edenbridge, Eɴɢʟᴀɴᴅ, Monty has been called one of the country’s “most ᴏᴠᴇʀʟᴏᴏᴋᴇᴅ dogs.” For the last seven of his eight years, Monty has spent his life at a ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ. The staff at Lᴀsᴛ Cʜᴀɴᴄᴇ Aɴɪᴍᴀʟ Ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ can not understand why Monty still has not found his forever home. For Monty’s entire first year of life, he was ʟᴇꜰᴛ in a small cage. By the time he arrived at the ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ, he was ʜᴜɴᴄʜᴇᴅ over and had trust issues because of the poor ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ and ɴᴇɢʟᴇᴄᴛ he had suffered so early in life. Sadly, Monty gets little interest from would-be adopters.

“Poor Monty has a ʜᴜɴᴄʜᴇᴅ back which ᴛʜᴇ ᴠᴇᴛs think was caused by his previous owners ᴋᴇᴇᴘɪɴɢ ʜɪᴍ ɪɴ ᴀ ᴄʀᴀᴛᴇ that was too small for him for a long period of time! Because of this he does have ʙᴀᴅ trust issues so would need someone who can help show him that not everyone is ʙᴀᴅ,” his description on his adoption listing states.

Whilst Monty loves attention and cuddles with the team at Last Chance, he struggles to bond with other animals – and will bark and pull towards them. The Last Chance spokesperson added: “Monty got so ꜰʀᴜsᴛʀᴀᴛᴇᴅ that he would hit your leg when wanting to get to other dogs, so he has to be ᴍᴜᴢᴢʟᴇᴅ when out in public.Actually, Monty only wants one loving owner, he doesn’t want to share and can become very ᴊᴇᴀʟᴏᴜs which may lead to him being ᴀɢɢʀᴇssɪᴠᴇ. He is not good with any animals and will bark and pull towards them and needs to be ᴍᴜᴢᴢʟᴇᴅ in public places. Unfortunately, he gets so ꜰʀᴜsᴛʀᴀᴛᴇᴅ that he hits your legs when wanting to get to other dogs, so his new owner needs to be quite strong. However, since being at Last Chance Monty can now calmly walk with a dog in sight and not bark or hit your legs but this will take time to achieve in his new home.” Monty would do best in a home with no other pets and with someone who can continue his training. He is an active pup, and loves to run and chase tennis balls – he just doesn’t bring them back. The spokesperson added: “He loves to run and chase tennis balls but doesn’t know he had to bring them back. “Because of Monty’s preferences, we are looking for an adult only, single person home with no other pets.”
