Husky Chained Entire Life Gets To Run Free In An Empty Field

Imagine being a young dog and never being let off the end of a chain. A sweet Siberian Husky named Biscuit spent the first two years of his life on a chain. Biscuit and eight other dogs were kept on leashes in a kennel with no roof. They had no place to go if it rained or snowed, and they couldn’t get the exercise they needed. Many of the dogs’ paws were frostbitten from the freezing weather.

One day, Dogs Deserve Better founder Amy Hines happened to drive by the Kentucky property where these dogs lived. She was sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ to see the poor chained-up dogs, and she knew she couldn’t just leave them there. She established a relationship with the dogs’ owner, and she was able to get him to release the dogs to Dogs Deserve Better.

“Amy spotted Biscuit and his siblings, friends, co-canines, on a property in Kentucky while visiting,” the ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ group wrote. “Amy didn’t just drive by, she stopped and ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ one of the dogs that very day. She continued communicating with the owner until every single dog was ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ from that property, where they were chained 24/7 with no shelter.”

It took over a couple of months, until the volunteers at the Dogs Deserve Better, have finally managed to ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ Biscuit and his other eight buddies and take them to the group’s rehabilitation center in Virginia – Good Newz Rehab. But it worth all the effort, especially when they saw the Husky’s reaction upon running for the very first time.

Once they were settled into their new home, Hines took Biscuit and the other dogs to a nearby field. Looking more like a rabbit that is hopping around, Biscuit hasn’t ever had this much freedom! He leaps and runs all around, getting a feel for the new experience. Not having a chain means that he can run around and have a blast smelling everything that he can find.

For this dog, the world just got a whole lot bigger and way more exciting than it was before. His next step might be to go stick his head out of a car window! We can only imagine how much his life is going to change for the better and how thankful he will be to his new owners showing him the love and care he deserved all along.
