Dogs do so much to help us overcome difficult moments in our life with their never-ending optimism and their endless supply of joy. And every once in a while, we get a chance to return the favor and do something for them.
Meet adorable duo Nora the dog and 11-month-old baby Archie. These two have been best friends since the day they first met, and their story will definitely put a smile on your face and remind you once more just how powerful the connection between a human and a dog can actually be.
Nora, 8-year-old, actually didn’t have an easy start in life. English Pointer Nora was so ʙᴀᴅʟʏ treated that she would spend her days quivering and had to be taken to a dog shelter where she was ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ by Canadian mum Elizabeth Spence.
Nora was adopted into a loving family with three cats and an adorable human baby. Because of the ᴄʀᴜᴇʟᴛʏ she’d endured for so long, Nora was ᴀꜰʀᴀɪᴅ of almost everything, but was unexpectedly drawn to baby Archie. Upon seeing their growing bond, mom Elizabeth Spence decided to document their heartwarming friendship.
The pair are so at ease with each other’s company that they are often snapped sleeping side-by-side or playing together. And sometimes, even the family cats get involved as they all snuggle up together on the bed.
“At any time of day you’re likely to find a pile of kids, cats and or dogs lying about the house somewhere,” Elizabeth Spence, Archie’s mom told.
Mum-of-three Elizabeth says she thinks the unlikely pairing is down to Archie’s chilled personality. “Archie is an extremely laid-back, happy, good-natured baby and all the animals seem to really respond to that, particularly Nora,” she told.
Elizabeth’s photos of Archie and Nora napping together have taken Instagram by storm – her account now has over 111,000 followers, and counting.
Despite her history of ᴀʙᴜsᴇ, Nora proves that ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ dogs are capable of loving just as much as any other dog. Little by little, Archie has helped Nora ʜᴇᴀʟ and become closer to her new family. Their friendship is truly the sweetest one ever.
