Dog has ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ reaction to portrait of his beloved brother who ᴘᴀssᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ

We often wonder how dogs process the ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ of a loved one, especially with their hearts being so full of love. Do they understand the concept of ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ, or do they just think that the one that’s ᴘᴀssᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ has gone on a very long walk and that they could be back any day?

It’s especially difficult when there are two doggy siblings in a household and one of them ᴘᴀssᴇs ᴀᴡᴀʏ. That was the case for one dog, who was missing his brother after he ᴘᴀssᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ… but had a beautiful reaction after seeing a tribute to the late dog.

Like many dogs, Libby Davey’s pup, Frank, had the remarkable ability to understand when someone has ᴅɪᴇᴅ. His brother, Smiff, had ᴘᴀssᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ last month, and he missed him ᴛᴇʀʀɪʙʟʏ.

The family also feels devastated over Smiff’s ʟᴏss, and to honor the memory of the beloved dog, Libby decided to memorialize Smiff by commissioning a painting of him.

She commissioned a painting of Smiff to hang in her living room. A local artist named Tina got to work, and soon Smiff’s portrait was up on the wall. It looked just like Smiff… so much so that Frank immediately recognized the painting as his brother.

Libby was able to capture the touching moment on camera. When Frank saw a picture of Smiff on the wall, he seemed stunned. He just couldn’t take his eyes off the painting.

Frank can be seen getting up onto his back legs to try and get a closer look at the painting. After trying to reach the painting from the floor, he then jumps up onto the couch to get a better look.

It’s clear that Frank recognizes his brother, and as he finally reaches eye level with the painting, he stares into his brother’s eyes with a wistful look on his face.

Libby was touched by the sweet moment, and she was convinced that Frank recognized Smiff in the painting. While nothing could ever bring Smiff back, it’s clear that he will forever live in the hearts of those he left. Rᴇsᴛ in ᴘᴇᴀᴄᴇ, Smiff!
