Clever Dog Strolls Into Police Station To Report Himself Mɪssɪɴɢ

While all dogs are good dogs, there’s one particular pooch who recently took his best behavior to the next level. An otherwise typically quiet night at Odessa Police Department took a rather interesting turn when an unexpected visitor strolled right through the front doors.

It was a friendly dog who seemed eager to let officers know of an incident in progress that a certain someone had gone Mɪssɪɴɢ from home… He, himself.

It seems, this smart boy had figured out that the best place to go after he ʟᴏsᴛ his human is the police station. Having reported his issue like the good boy that he is, Chico lingered on an idea to apply for a job as a K-9 for a little while. Scroll down to read about his whole adventure.

In the wee hours of the morning, the officers at the Odessa Police department in Texas received an unexpected visitor – a polite doggo who gently put his paws onto the front desk to let them know about his issue.

Sergeant Rusty Martin was among the officers there to receive him, noting that the pup appeared none too ᴅɪsᴛʀᴇssᴇᴅ by his “ʟᴏsᴛ dog” status. Mostly, he just seemed out for a good time — and he got one. That’s exactly what he got! “We were all excited to have him in the building. We had a tennis ball and threw it in the lobby for a bit. Everyone loved on him,” Martin says.

After the initial excitement had passed, the officers tried to find out where Chico had come from. He was wearing a collar at the time, but unfortunately, the ID tag had fallen off, so animal control was dispatched to come and check him for a microchip. But apparently tired of waiting, the very good boy decided to solve the case on his own. “He ran out just as quick as he came in,” Sergeant Rusty Martin said. “The owner responded the next day it was his dog and he had returned home. He lives about a mile from the station.”

Chico is now safely back at home with his family, but not without making a bunch of new friends in the police force first. Chico clearly has a knack for this line of work; maybe he should apply for that K-9 job after all? What a good boy.
