Clever Dog Figures Out Buses, Starts Riding Solo To The Dog Park

Today we meet Eclipse – Seattle’s most famous dog. This clever dog gained a worldwide fame and she’s melting hearts on the Internet, with her very special routine. The passengers of Seattle’s public transit system have good reasons to smile. That’s because from the nearly 120 million riders who’re using it every year, one is furry – a really smart one, though!

It all started when the black Labrador and Mastiff mix was at a bus stop with her owner Jeff Young. Her human was taking too long to finish his cigarette. So, when the bus arrived, the pooch just got on it by herself and got off at the park. Since that day, the owner knows he can always catch up with her later in the park. The guy realized this smart girl can ride those 3-4 stops on the D line on her own and always knows where to get off.

So, now if her owner is busy, she doesn’t wait too long. Eclipse just climbs aboard solo and rides to her stop. And all this to the delight of Seattle’s bus passengers. “All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does. She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this face?” Tiona Rainwater, a regular passenger of D-Line said. She also gets to bond with other passengers because she has no qualms about hopping into the empty seat next to someone.

Fortunately, Eclipse and her owner, Jeff Young live pretty close to a bus station. So when his beloved dog is not at home, Jeff knows exactly where to find her. “She’s a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog. I catch up with her at the dog park,” he said.  The adorable dog has become a regular passenger on the route, riding three or four stops before reaching her destination.

Recently, a Facebook post detailing Eclipse’s special routine went viral, gaining hundreds of thousands of reactions. Her internet fame has gotten so great, that she even had a children’s book written about her.
